About Us

Welcome!

Amavida International Montessori School is located in an idyllic area in Vienna's 17th district, close to the countryside but within easy reach of the city.

We are a bilingual school for children aged 6 to 12, whom we accompany in their development into responsible, self-confident, and happy people according to the principles of Maria Montessori.

The children learn in a self-determined and individual way, and the age mix of the multi-grade class is an essential part of the prepared environment. In addition to social contacts, this Montessori environment provides children with all the learning tools and materials they need to acquire their knowledge and skills independently. The lovingly observant Montessori teachers will support them.

As a bilingual school; we ensure that all children learn from both an English and a German Montessori trained native speaker right from the beginning of their education. Children between 6 and 12 learn languages much more easily and intuitively than later on; we aim to support this process. Of course, the concept of Montessori education goes far beyond the curriculum of state schools in all subject areas!

Montessori Method

We regard the education of grades 1 to 6 as a fundamental cornerstone for nurturing lifelong learning.

By acknowledging that children between the ages of 6 and 12, as emphasized by Maria Montessori, possess an inherent "spirit of inquiry" and a "reasonable mind," we passionately strive to foster and guide this natural curiosity. Our approach diverges from presenting dry academic content to be passively absorbed; instead, we tailor our teaching individually to the interests of each child.

During this developmental phase, children are naturally inclined to deeply immerse themselves in the essence of things, to explore and question the whys, origins, and goals. The conventional curriculum serves as a toolkit for their explorations. While these skills are undoubtedly nurtured within our learning environment, their primary significance lies in facilitating their enthusiastic application. This is not a result of imposed agendas, but rather due to their intrinsic desire to actively engage and apply themselves.
